YBG Presents: Ed Talks - Thriving Through Change

YBG Presents: Ed Talks - Thriving Through Change

November 4, 2025 (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (MST)

Description

In our ever-changing world, adaptability and the ability to thrive through change are key characteristics that great leaders bring to their work. In this year’s Ed Talks, hear from 4 dynamic leaders who will share stories of their ability to thrive through ever-present change.

These speakers include:

  1. Landon Barrowman, who navigated personal mental health challenges and found resilience in a variety of techniques he’ll share. These techniques and experiences are shared in his book “The Working Man’s Guide to Mental Health”.
  2. Puneeta McBryan, Puneeta McBryan is a strategist and consultant specializing in branding, communications, and government and stakeholder relations. For the past 5 years, Puneeta served as Chief Executive Officer at the Edmonton Downtown Business Association, a role she took on in December of 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As the lead convener and ‘chief optimist’ for Edmonton’s Downtown, she worked with all three orders of government, the private sector, the arts & cultural sector, and her city’s social services and nonprofit leaders to secure and restore vibrancy, well-being, and prosperity for her community. This work led to her recognition as the Inspired Leader of the Year in 2022 by IABC Edmonton, one of Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 by Edify Magazine in 2021, and a recipient of the 2025 Communication and Leadership Award from Toastmasters International and the 2022 Community Impact Award from the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.
  3. Brookes Merritt, CEO of Loyalton Strategies. Brookes has moved from journalism to inner government circles, and now to government relations consultant, all in a time where politics and political change in our city, province and nation have been a near constant.
  4. Eddo Cancian, Principal at ACI Architects. In Eddo’s 38 years in the industry, he’s witnessed all kinds of change in how we deliver projects, manage budgets, and engage with teams. He’ll share those changes, and ways adaptability has served him.

Change is now the norm, but it can still be dizzying. Hear from these 4 leaders on their experiences, tips, and tools, as you interact with your fellow members in a first-class afternoon of learning.
